April 2012

I just feel like I need to write something here. It is such a lonely little blog, haha. But I just got 2 new students, several more on a waiting list for this summer, and things are looking really good right now. The Magic Valley Philharmonic Orchestra (which I am a member of) is performing this Friday and the show sounds really pretty good! I'm excited and grateful for all the opportunities that seem to be coming. I still really miss my students back in Idaho Falls, especially when I get to go visit and see how good they are doing, but I know this is where I need to be and I already love all of my new students.

Also, I want to put a few links for worksheets, my policy, and practice charts up so I hope this works.
Click on the top for my parts of the violin review (this could easily be found online if the focus isn't too great), and the bottom picture for a practice worksheet. More worksheets to come in the future!

*Note-these can also be found on my resources page.

A New Start

I am now a violin teacher in Rupert. I am so sad I had to leave my students in Idaho Falls. They were some of the best students of all time and I miss them so much. But I am glad that they are all still keeping up the violin without me.

So, I'm getting a new start with a new studio in Rupert. I have three great students and hopefully more will be coming soon!

I LOVE MY STUDENTS!

I know it has been a while since i wrote anything but i just had to say how grateful I am for my students! I have 8 of the best students I could have ever asked for. Honestly, today I was feeling pretty sick and I had to teach a lesson, but the excitement and the happiness of my student made me feel 10x better. And that is not the first time that has happened. When I go to lessons and my students give me little pictures and treats I feel so blessed and happy and that is what makes teaching so wonderful!

Updates

I am approaching a new semester in school and that means a little different schedule. I'll keep you updated on that as it gets closer. Also, I won't be teaching the third week in April because I will be out of town. And finally, I would like to try and get a recital planned for sometime within the next few months, possibly May. This will be a solo recital for all my students to show off their hard work. Please let me know when we can get that scheduled before all the summer activities get started. Let me know if you have any questions!

Summer Music Camps

I just wanted to give a plug for summer music camps. I have been to a few different camps and I always learned a lot and had a great time. In these camps you get one on one instruction from professional teachers and performers, lots of performing opportunities, and you meet lots of people doing the same thing you are...playing music!

The Sewanee Summer Music Festival (SSMF) is a five week music camp in Sewanne, Tennessee for advanced students. There are private lessons, chamber groups, and a full orchestra. The chamber and orchestra groups perform each week and are rearranged so you have the opportunity to learn as much music and work with as many people as possible.

The Intermountain Suzuki Strings Institute is a great program. It is located in Salt Lake City, Utah and is a week long program for beginning to advanced students learning the Suzuki method. There are masterclasses with professionals and concerts all week. There are a number of classes available for the students to participate in. Parents are welcome to attend all classes. There is also a week of teacher training for those interested in learning more about teaching the Suzuki method.

I highly encourage kids involved in music to participate in summer music camps. They are a great and fun learning experience!
